After watching any advertisement for testosterone product,
men usually find themselves compelled to consult with the doctors to ask about
low testosterone levels.
According to a survey, more than 5,000 testosterone lawsuits
have been filed against drug manufacturers in the northern district of
Illinois.
A large number of testosterone product users, most of which
are men, assert that using testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) drugs has triggered
serious injuries such as heart attack, stroke, deep vein thrombosis and
pulmonary embolism.
Most of the lawsuits against drug manufacturers have been
filed by health insurance companies which maintained that unnecessary uses of
drugs have caused the insurers to pay to compensate for injuries.
Initially, in June 2014, there were only eight lawsuits
recorded in Multi-district Litigation (MDL). Therefore, it cannot be regarded as
incident that number of cases increased with the rise in use of TRT products.
The sales of testosterone drugs have been recorded $1.6 billion in 2011 as
compared to $18 million in 1988. According to the data, number of testosterone
users over 40 years of age has risen up to 300% despite the fact that FDA has
approved testosterone drugs only for the treatment for medically low
testosterone level, which doesn’t include the drop in levels due to ageing.
According to a study in 2010, testosterone drugs users are
more prone to get cardiovascular disorders as compared to the men who use placebo.
After the publishing of this study, number of personal injury attorneys hired
by testosterone users had risen drastically.
It should be mentioned here that TRTs are not the proven
treatments which the men with overall weakness should go for. Dr. Adriane from
Georgetown University medical center says, “Testosterone
therapy offers no proven benefits for healthy men. Low T [testosterone]
syndrome is invented by pharmaceutical companies to sell treatment products”.
The only reason seen behind increased sales of these drugs
is the marketing campaign which compels men to use the drugs without getting
prescription. This reason surely validates the insurers’ personal injury
claims.
A simple advice for the ones who plan to file personal
injury lawsuit against drug companies is that they should study the case well
just to ensure that they really deserve compensation from TRT products’
manufacturers. An ideal way is to get consultation from personal injury lawyers in South Bend Indiana.
